Spartanburg Animal Clinic is a well-established and high-quality small animal general practice located in beautiful Spartanburg, South Carolina, seeking to add a skilled and compassionate Surgical Veterinary Technician/Assistant to our friendly, supportive team. Our practice serves canine and feline patients only and places a strong emphasis on client education, preventative care, and fear-free handling.

We are a 2 to 3 doctor hospital with a collaborative team environment, great leadership, and an excellent support staff. This is an ideal opportunity for a responsible, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced setting, has strong communication skills, and takes initiative to get things done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain surgical suite, instruments, and supplies
  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including instrument handling and sterile technique
  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia, maintaining detailed anesthetic records
  • Administer pre-operative and post-operative medications as directed
  • Ensure accurate and complete medical documentation of all surgical procedures
  • Educate clients on surgical aftercare and discharge instructions
  • Monitor patient comfort and pain management throughout the perioperative period
  • Maintain compliance with safety, cleanliness, and infection control standards
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and fellow team members to deliver efficient, compassionate surgical care

What We’re Looking For

  • Veterinary Technician or Assistant with at least 3 years of clinical experience
  • Preference given to candidates with a VTS in Surgery or Anesthesia & Analgesia, or those actively pursuing certification
  • Strong skills in anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep and assistance, lab work, radiology, and medical record keeping
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Positive, team-focused attitude and dedication to high standards of patient care
  • RVT credential preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Friendly, dependable, and committed to patient care
