Veterinary Assistant

Steamboat Animal Hospital has an opening for a Veterinary Assistant to add to our awesome team. You will be working directly with a doctor helping with their appointments and aesthesia procedures. Qualifications

• Assist in restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure safety of patients and people

• Become familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases; including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission

• Be familiar with monitoring devices, IV infusion pumps, patient warming systems, radiograph procedures

• Take accurate notes and medical history of patients for doctors

• Anticipate the needs of the doctor for routine exam/surgery visits; follow doctors request to fill or refill medications - obtain a medical clerk license

• Take temperatures, record vitals as requested by doctor; draw up vaccines, apply flea/tick medication/prevention, etc.
