Steamboat Animal Hospital has an opening for a Veterinary Assistant to add to our awesome team. You will be working directly with a doctor, helping with their appointments and anesthesia procedures.
Qualifications
- Possess a good attitude and contribute to a positive work environment
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Advanced customer service experience & excellent communication skills
- You must enjoy people not just pets
- Advanced animal care, restraints, client/customer interaction experience is a BONUS!
Responsibilities
- Assist in restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure the safety of patients and people
- Become familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases, including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
- Be familiar with monitoring devices, IV infusion pumps, patient warming systems, and radiograph procedures
- Take accurate notes and medical history of patients for doctors
- Anticipate the needs of the doctor for routine exam/surgery visits; follow doctor's request to fill or refill medications - obtain a medical clerk license
- Take temperatures, record vitals as requested by doctor; draw up vaccines, apply flea/tick medication/prevention, etc.
