We seek an outstanding and responsible individual to join our team as a FULL-TIME Veterinary Technician or Assistant for our overnight shift. Our ideal candidate must be outgoing and friendly. Overnight Technician/Assistant- Primary caregivers for the pet(s) within our hospital. Record-keeping and communication skills are a must. The position involves animal husbandry and janitorial tasks. Responsible for the safety, care, direct supervision, feeding, cleaning, and exercising of dogs in our facility. Must be adaptable, able to read behavioral cues, be responsible, and self-motivated. A minimum of three years Veterinary experience required.  

Physical Requirements (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.):  

• Position requires the ability to walk, bend, stoop and/or work in a bent position, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.  

• Frequently use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.  

• Use strength or agility in restraining stronger, more active animals. Frequently lift and/or move up to a minimum of 40 pounds. Occasionally handle dogs weighing up to or over 150lbs with assistance.  

• Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under fast-paced conditions and in an outdoor setting.  

• Must possess visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.  

• Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give information in person or over the phone.  

Skills and Knowledge:  

• Current and valid license as a certified veterinary technician or a minimum of 3 years of experience.  

• Working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and veterinary terminology.  

• Working knowledge of common animal diseases and their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment, and prevention.  

• Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in all veterinary procedures. Knowledge of sterilization and aseptic technique.  

• Critical thinking. Understanding logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.  

• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Self-motivated.  

Applicants must be LVT, RVT, or CVT or have a minimum of three years of experience and enjoy working with pets, have a friendly and easygoing demeanor, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills. Individuals should be team-oriented, have a strong work ethic, initiative, a sense of responsibility, and a desire to excel. Equally important is the ability to work within and contribute to maintaining our fast-paced, upbeat, and fun work environment, as well as the desire to develop a long-term, vested interest in contributing to the growth and well-being of our organization. The ideal candidate would be flexible in scheduling, including evenings and weekends. Reliability and dependability are a MUST.
