Berrien Veterinary is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant with a passion for veterinary medicine, excellent client care, and the ambition to become an integral part of our healthcare team.
The ideal candidate is proficient in the following areas:
- Dog and Cat restraint
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
- Maintaining medical records
- Familiarity with veterinary pharmacology
- Client communication and education (excellent written and verbal skills)
- Seeing appointments and obtaining a history. Completing the physical examinations with the doctor.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital throughout the day.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to decipher medical records
Qualifications
- Preferred to have at least 1 year of previous experience working in a veterinary practice or sufficient relatable animal care experience to ensure excellent performance at the above-listed skills
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations
- Must have telephone and computer skills
- Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change
- Must be available to work mornings, evenings, and 1 – 2 Saturdays per month
