Responsibilities:  

  • Assist veterinarians in providing care for animals 
  • Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures  
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians  
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas - Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis 
  • Take and develop x-rays  
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments  
  • Help with dental cleanings and procedures  
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration 

 

Skills:  

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary team members  
  • Ability to handle animals with care and compassion 
  • Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common diseases 
  • Proficiency in administering medications and treatments to animals 
  • Attention to detail for accurate record keeping and documentation 
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
