Leonard Animal Clinic is a full-service animal hospital providing comprehensive pet healthcare services in Leonard, TX. Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services. Patients include companion pets, exotics, and production animals.
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our compassionate team. As an LVT, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care for our patients and supporting our veterinarians. You will perform a variety of clinical tasks, assist with diagnostic procedures, and ensure our patients’ well-being in a fast-paced, caring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide excellent care for animals, including administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with surgeries.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform diagnostic tests (e.g., blood draws, urinalysis, radiographs, and ECGs), prepare samples for lab analysis, and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
- Client Communication: Educate pet owners on procedures, medications, diet, and post-operative care. Address client concerns and maintain strong relationships.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all medical data is entered promptly and accurately.
- Support Veterinarians: Assist veterinarians during exams, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures. Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment.
- Medical Supplies: Manage inventory of medical supplies and controlled substances
- Emergency Care: Provide urgent care when necessary and support the clinic's emergency protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited institution.
- Licensing: Valid veterinary technician license (LVT, RVT, or CVT) in Texas.
- Experience: 3 years of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred. 5 years plus, if not licensed.
- Skills: Proficient in veterinary medical terminology, animal care, laboratory procedures, and anesthesia monitoring. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift animals and equipment up to 50 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in specialty areas (e.g., surgery, dentistry, emergency care) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Avimark
Work Schedule:
- 4 days per week (32 hours) with 1-2 half days, Saturdays (seasonal dependent) per month
- Paid “on call” may occasionally be required in the case of rare overnight hospitalizations.
