Position Details

Role: Veterinary Assistant

Status: Full-time

Salary: $18 - $20 per hour, based on experience and skill set 

Schedule: 4 days per week with rotating Saturdays

As our Veterinary Assistant, no two days look quite the same. One hour you might be checking in a nervous patient and educating their owner, and the next you’re taking radiographs, running lab work, or assisting in surgery. What Our Veterinary Assistants Do

• Perform pre-exam check-ins and gather patient history
• Educate clients on their pet’s care and next steps
• Keep thorough, accurate electronic medical records
• Handle and restrain patients safely and calmly during exams and treatments
• Run basic in-house lab tests
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with appointments and procedures
• Take radiographs (x-rays)
• Assist in surgery and clean, pack, and prepare surgical supplies
• Fill prescriptions once you hold pharmacy clerk certification
• Clean and restock the hospital to keep it running smoothly
• Responsibilities may vary based on hospital needs as well as your experience, training, certifications, credentials, and assigned responsibilities
