Role: Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant

Status: Full-time

Salary: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: 4 days per week with alternating Saturdays

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant at Fresh Pond Animal Hospital, you will:

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Obtain patient histories and keep accurate, thorough medical records
• Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and equipment so appointments run smoothly
• Safely and compassionately restrain patients during exams and procedures
• Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia as directed by the veterinarian
• Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and patient recovery
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing and lab work
• Provide attentive nursing care to recovering patients
• Educate clients on medications, treatments, and preventive care
• Keep the treatment area clean, organized, and efficient
• Support daily hospital operations and patient workflow

Responsibilities may vary based on hospital needs as well as your experience, training, certifications, credentials, and assigned responsibilities.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience as a veterinary technician (vet tech) or veterinary assistant in a small animal practice
• A genuine passion for patient care and animal welfare
• Strong, compassionate communication skills with clients and teammates
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while staying calm and focused
• Strong attention to detail, especially in patient care and medical records
• A positive, team-first attitude and a willingness to jump in where needed
• A desire to keep learning and growing your skills
• Availability to work Monday through Friday and alternating Saturdays
• Veterinary technician licensure is welcomed but not required
