Position Details

Role: Experienced or Registered Veterinary Technician

Status: Full-time

Salary: $20 - $25 per hour based on experience and credentials

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week, averaging 36–40 hours. Weekend and evening availability required.

Experience: 1–2 years of small animal veterinary experience; critical care and ER experience preferred

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

  • Partner with veterinarians and your fellow team members to provide compassionate, high-quality patient care
  • Obtain patient histories, TPRs, and other relevant information during appointments
  • Safely handle and restrain patients for examinations, treatments, diagnostic procedures, and radiographs
  • Perform venipuncture and obtain blood samples for diagnostic testing
  • Place intravenous catheters
  • Perform and assist with diagnostic laboratory procedures
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging and radiographs
  • Prepare and fill prescriptions as directed
  • Assist with surgical and hospitalized patient intake and discharge
  • Support surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and recovery based on your training and experience
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintain patient and hospital cleanliness and hygiene
  • Complete accurate medical documentation and billing
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about their pets and veterinary care
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and welcoming experience for clients
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care
  • Work collaboratively with teammates and support the hospital’s ethical principles and standards of practice
  • Treat every patient humanely and compassionately, regardless of the situation or circumstance

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 1–2 years of experience working in a small animal veterinary practice
  • Veterinary technician licensure is welcome but not required
  • Critical care and emergency experience is preferred
  • Strong venipuncture and IV catheter placement skills
  • Experience with diagnostic laboratory procedures and radiology
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience based on your training and skill level
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • The ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, tact, and compassion
  • A collaborative, team-first approach
  • Reliability and consistent attendance
  • The ability to work efficiently in a busy veterinary environment while maintaining excellent patient care
  • Comfort working on your feet for the majority of an 8–12-hour shift
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Weekend and evening availability
  • A passion for animal care and a commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and clients
