At Sheffield Veterinary Hospital, we’re entering an exciting new chapter and looking for a passionate Registered Veterinary Technician to help us grow. For more than 80 years, Sheffield Veterinary Hospital has been a trusted part of the London community, caring for generations of dogs, cats, and the families who love them. Since opening our doors in 1942, our mission has remained the same: providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care while treating every patient as if they were our own.

Today, we’re building on that legacy and creating something special. As our next RVT, you’ll have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of a growing practice while working alongside leaders who value collaboration, communication, and professional growth.

Why Our Veterinary Technicians Love It Here

Sheffield Veterinary Hospital is more than just a veterinary clinic; we’re a team committed to strengthening our community by providing thoughtful, compassionate care to pets and the people who love them.

We’re currently a one-doctor practice with exciting growth plans for the future. While our hospital has experienced changes and transitions over the years, those experiences have made us stronger, more resilient, and more focused on building an exceptional culture from the ground up.

  • Have a real voice in protocols, workflows, team development, and the future direction of the hospital
  • Help build the kind of veterinary support team you’ve always wanted to work with
  • Work with a hands-on Hospital Manager who spent more than 15 years as an RVT before transitioning into leadership
  • Benefit from an open-door leadership style where collaboration and communication are expected and encouraged
  • Work alongside a veterinarian with 10 years of clinical experience and previous Medical Director experience
  • Join leaders who value teamwork, mentorship, accountability, and professional growth
  • Combine the stability and trust of an 80-year community presence with the energy of a growing practice
  • Work in an environment committed to Fear Free®, Low Stress Handling®, and Feline Friendly care principles

Our leadership team believes the people closest to patient care should help shape how we deliver it. Your ideas won’t sit on the sidelines here. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully as we continue building our team and defining the hospital’s future.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver exceptional patient care and advocacy
  • Assist with and monitor anesthesia for surgical and dental procedures
  • Independently manage surgical nursing duties and patient recovery
  • Run technician appointments and provide client education
  • Perform laboratory testing, diagnostics, treatments, and nursing care
  • Collaborate with the veterinarian and leadership team to improve patient care and hospital operations
  • Help develop protocols, workflows, and team standards as we continue to grow
  • Mentor and support future team members as our support staff expands
  • Help ensure boarding pets receive excellent care, monitoring, and attention while maintaining the same high standards we provide to our medical patients
  • Contribute to a Fear Free®, Low Stress Handling®, and Feline Friendly environment where pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for

What You’ll Bring

  • Current Ohio Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credentials
  • Confidence working independently in surgery and anesthesia
  • Strong technical nursing and patient care skills
  • Experience managing technician appointments and client communication
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to embrace change and growth
  • A passion for helping build a supportive, team-oriented hospital culture

While we’re building a new team, what we already bring to the table is experience, resilience, leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the pets and families who trust us with their care.

As a small animal general practice, we proudly care for dogs and cats throughout every stage of life, from routine wellness visits and preventive care to diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and sick-pet appointments. We take the time to listen, educate, and create personalized care plans tailored to each pet’s unique needs.
