Grace Animal Hospital is looking for an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. We’re a four-doctor general practice with an established support staff committed to providing exceptional care for patients ranging from Bernedoodles and Bengals to bunnies.
Our hospital offers digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser treatments, and a beautiful clinical environment. What Our Veterinary Assistants Do
- Assist veterinarians and the medical team with patient exams, treatments, and procedures
- Provide compassionate, high-quality care to canine, feline, and small mammal patients
- Safely handle and restrain patients while prioritizing their comfort and well-being
- Obtain thorough patient histories, vitals, and other information to support patient assessments
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed and appropriate to your training and experience
- Assist with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection based on your training and experience
- Collect and process laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostic testing
- Assist with digital and dental radiographs
- Support surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery based on your training and experience
- Support ultrasound and therapeutic laser treatments
- Communicate with clients compassionately and clearly regarding patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts
- Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, and organized
- Collaborate with doctors and teammates to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture
What You’ll Bring
- Previous Veterinary Assistant experience in a clinical setting
- Strong patient care and animal-handling skills
- Safe and effective patient restraint techniques
- Experience assisting with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Familiarity with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
- Comfort assisting with diagnostic testing, radiology, and laboratory procedures
- Experience with venipuncture and IV catheter placement is a plus
- Excellent client communication and education skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Time management and organizational skills that help keep the day running smoothly
- A collaborative, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in where needed
- Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself
- A positive attitude, reliability, and genuine passion for veterinary medicine
