Spadina Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team in downtown Toronto, nestled between Chinatown and the Fashion District. We’re a small animal, three-doctor practice supported by a fantastic team of technicians, ACAs, and receptionists who work together to care for our canine and feline patients.

What You’ll Do
- Perform anesthesia and monitor patients throughout procedures and recovery
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures
- Perform dental radiographs and dental cleanings
- Obtain patient temperatures, pulses, and respiratory rates
- Gather thorough patient histories
- Perform blood draws and support diagnostic procedures
- Fill prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team
- Maintain an understanding of common medications and diseases seen in general practice
- Explain medications, conditions, and veterinarian recommendations to clients in an easy-to-understand way
- Use Avimark practice management software to support hospital workflows
- Interact with clients and patients with warmth and professionalism
- Address client concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating when appropriate
- Maintain accurate patient records and document client communications
- Jump in to support teammates and help keep the day running smoothly
What You’ll Bring
- Completion of a Veterinary Technician Program
- Current registration through the OAVT
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician
- Strong anesthesia and patient monitoring skills
- Experience assisting with surgical procedures
- Experience with dental radiography and dental cleanings
- Strong blood draw and patient care skills
- Knowledge of common medications and diseases seen in general practice
- Excellent client education and communication skills
- Experience with veterinary practice management software; Avimark experience is preferred
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support the entire team
- Warm, professional, and empathetic client service skills
- Strong attention to detail when maintaining patient records and documenting communication
- Excellent multitasking skills
- The ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- A positive attitude and commitment to a supportive, upbeat team culture
