Role: Experienced Veterinary Assistant, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or RVT Student
Status: Full-time
Salary: Starting at $20/hour; negotiable based on experience and licensure
Schedule: Flexible Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends or holidays

Basin Run Animal Hospital is a well-established, AAHA-accredited three-doctor practice serving dogs, cats, exotics, and pocket pets. We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or RVT who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working alongside a supportive team, and wants to continue growing professionally.

Our team believes outstanding medicine starts with compassion—for our patients, our clients, and each other. We proudly practice Fear Free and Low Stress Handling techniques, and all of our doctors and RVTs are Low Stress Silver Certified. We're also a Veterinary Mentorship Certified hospital, proudly participate in Rabies Free Africa, and are currently working toward becoming a CaETA End-of-Life Care Certified practice.

What Our Veterinary Assistants & Technicians Do

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and fluid therapy
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures
  • Provide compassionate nursing care, including TPRs, pain assessments, wound care, and patient monitoring
  • Practice Fear Free and Low Stress Handling techniques to create positive patient experiences
  • Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Help maintain clean, organized treatment and exam areas
  • Collaborate with teammates to provide exceptional patient care and an efficient workflow

What Our Veterinary Assistants & Technicians Bring

  • Experience as a Veterinary Assistant, RVT, or current RVT student
  • Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and patient nursing care
  • Experience assisting with surgery and anesthesia monitoring
  • Excellent patient handling skills with a commitment to Fear Free or Low Stress techniques
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork
