Role: Experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
Status: Full-time
Salary: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience and licensure
Schedule: Flexible Monday through Friday scheduling with rotating half-day Saturday shifts

Stratford Hills Veterinary Center is a well-established three-doctor small animal practice in Richmond, Virginia, and we're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative team.
Our recently renovated hospital was designed to support a low-stress, Fear Free approach to patient care while creating a positive environment where team members can learn, grow, and enjoy coming to work. Our hospital provides a wide variety of services, including wellness and preventive care, emergency care, routine surgery, oral surgery, dentistry with digital dental radiography, cold laser therapy, diagnostic testing, and more.

What Our Veterinary Assistants & Technicians Do
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
- Safely restrain patients using low-stress handling techniques
- Obtain patient histories and maintain accurate medical records
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed
- Perform venipuncture, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics
- Obtain high-quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical and dental procedures
- Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and treatment plans
- Support efficient hospital workflow while providing exceptional patient care
What Our Veterinary Assistants & Technicians Bring
- Licensed Veterinary Technician credential preferred, but experienced Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to apply
- Previous hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital
- Strong patient handling and nursing skills
- Experience performing laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures
- Knowledge of common medications, vaccines, and preventive care
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently while thriving as part of a collaborative team
- Fear Free certification and Avimark experience are a plus but not required
