  • Salary: From $20.00 per hour
  • Schedule: 4-day work week, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Closed Saturday

Norwich Regional Animal Hospital (NRAH) is looking for a compassionate and engaged Patient Care Coordinator to join our small but mighty team. We are a small animal general practice with an amazing and diverse clientele. We are open Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm, and 4 full days is considered full-time. 


The current team in place is a very hard-working group committed to quality medicine and compassionate care that is tailored to the needs of each patient.  Each of our education and lived experiences is fully valued, and we have as much fun as possible while meeting the needs of our clients. We are looking for the right person to round out our team!


Our Patient Care Coordinator is responsible and trained for all front-line operations, including:

  • Providing compassionate care to patients and clients.
  • Responding to client communications.
  • Is the first point of contact for our clients, both in person and on the phone.
  • Scheduling appointments and having an understanding of our calendar.
  • Communicating with other hospitals to request medical records and coordinate referrals.
  • Managing client accounts and accurately document communications.
  • Preparing estimates for procedures and discussing financial commitments with clients.
  • Building initial rapport and long-term relationships with both pets and clients, successfully communicating plans and estimates to owners.
  • Communicating within the team, proactively managing the needs of the clients.
  • Operating practice management software (AVImark) and related software platforms.


Our new Patient Care Coordinator is someone who:

  • Has excellent administrative skills, such as phone etiquette, strong organizational and time management abilities, is proficient in computer skills and navigating the internet, and can discuss financial arrangements effortlessly.
  • Balances the needs of clients with the time and focus of the medical staff.
  • Can communicate compassionately with clients who may be worried or distraught.
  • Demonstrates patience, calmness, and caring while maintaining boundaries with clients.
  • Has experience in animal or human medical settings.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A positive attitude and be a team player
  • Well skilled in balancing multiple priorities and tasks with attention to detail
  • Experience recognizing your limits and asking for help as needed
  • Strong work ethic and track record of being reliable


As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll support our team with daily clinical duties, including:

  • Assisting in animal examinations and treatments
  • Monitoring and comforting patients before and after procedures
  • Preparing and cleaning exam rooms, equipment, and surgical tools
  • Administering medications and collecting lab samples (as directed)
  • Educating clients on pet care, nutrition, and preventive medicine
  • Maintaining accurate patient records


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care role preferred, on the job training is offered for the right candidate.
  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
