  • Role: Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
  • Schedule: 4 ten-hour days or rotating Saturday, shorter week schedule

Jeffersonville Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our growing team in Jeffersonville, NY. 


Our LVTs play a critical role in patient care, client education, and supporting our veterinarians in delivering high-quality medicine and exceptional service. We are looking for a team-oriented professional who is dedicated to providing outstanding care to both pets and their families.

Position Overview 


The Licensed Veterinary Technician is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients, assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, educating clients, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting the daily flow of the clinic. Daily professional attire that includes wearing medical scrubs is required for this position. 
 
 
Primary Responsibilities 

  • Patient Care & Technical Skills
  • Perform patient assessments and obtain medical histories
  • Assist in exams, surgeries, and medical procedures
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia
  • Perform dental cleanings and radiographs
  • Collect and run laboratory samples
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed
  • Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture
  • Monitor hospitalized patients 


Client Communication & Education

  • Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and post-operative instructions
  • Provide compassionate communication during routine and urgent visits 


Medical Records & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and detailed paperless medical records
  • Ensure proper documentation for patient safety and continuity of care
  • Follow NYS regulations and hospital protocols 


Team Support & Facility Care

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, assistants, and client service representatives
  • Help maintain efficient daily clinic flow 
     

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current New York State Veterinary Technician License required
  • Strong technical and anesthesia monitoring skills
  • Excellent communication skills (in-person and phone)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Compassionate, patient-focused mindset
  • Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn Avimark and Microsoft applications (training provided onsite)
